About the Chamber
The Malaysian Chamber of Commerce – Southern Africa (MYCHAM) was established for the following core objectives:
- To promote, support, and represent the interests of the Malaysian business community in South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, eSwatini, Mozambique and Madagascar.
- To primarily and predominantly facilitate, promote, encourage, and develop trade and commerce and business relationships between Malaysia and these countries, as well as to provide and promote a networking forum and platform for its members to develop business relationships.
- To assist Malaysian companies investing in South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, eSwatini, Mozambique and Madagascar, through networking and sharing of information.
- To provide a platform for Malaysian Government officials visiting South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, eSwatini, Mozambique and Madagascar to meet, interact and to know more about investments and trade in these countries.
- To provide a forum for expressing opinions and exchanging business-related information among its members and other institutions, enterprises, and relevant bodies in South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, eSwatini, Mozambique and Madagascar or with the Malaysian authorities.
About the Chamber
H.E. Rus Shazila binti Osman – High Commissioner of Malaysia to the Republic of South Africa [Concurrently accredited to Botswana, Madagascar, Mozambique, Lesotho and Swaziland]
Ms. Rus Shazila Osman holds a Masters in European Policy, Law and Management from Robert Gordon University, United Kingdom and began her career in the Administrative and Diplomatic Service in 1998. Before this, she was the Undersecretary of the Inspectorate Division since 2019.
She previously served in diplomatic missions of Malaysia in Berlin, Germany and Berne, Switzerland. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she served as the Undersecretary of Finance Division and Undersecretary of OIC and Regional Cooperation Division. She also had assignments at Development Division, Consular Division and Department of Territorial and Maritime Affairs.

Salim Abu Haniffa – Digital Strategist and Business Development Consultant, Sobael Pty Ltd
Mr. Salim Abu Haniffa holds a BSc.in IT from Charles Sturt University, Australia and previously led policy and advocacy work for Digital Inclusion programs at Axiata, one of the largest digital companies in Asia. Salim first joined Axiata in 2009, as a strategy analyst before assuming various roles across their telco and digital subsidiaries. He has built a strong track record of managing digital portfolios, programs as well as corporate affairs across the group. Salim was previously at Accenture, Frost and Sullivan and other consultancies along with stints in banking, healthcare and infrastructure, working across Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia.
